Habiba Djebbari
I am currently Full Professor in Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE) at Aix-Marseille University (France). I am a Fellow of the Econometrics Society since 2020. I am also Research fellow at IZA (Institute for the Study of Labor) since 2015. I received my doctoral degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Prior to joining Aix Marseille University, I was an associate professor in the Department of Economics at Laval University (Quebec, Canada). My research interests include development economics, social networks, education, health and poverty. I am an applied econometrician. My publication record includes World Development (), Annual Review of Economics (2020), Economic Development and Cultural Change (2020), Journal of Econometrics (2008, 2009), Journal of Applied Econometrics (2012) and Lancet Global Health (2015).
I am also elected director of the development economics and political economy at AMSE since 2018, member of the research department council (conseil de laboratoire) since 2024, director of graduate studies (since 2025). I also served as president of the Econometrics Society Africa Region Standing Committee in 2018, member of the hiring committee in 2021-2022, co-director of the professional-track M2 programme of the Master of Economics (2023-2025), co-founder of the double Master in Economics and International Relations with Sciences Po Aix.
