BASEMENT FRAMING
Chances are the walls in your basement will need to be 'floating' to allow for the expansive soils found here in Colorado.Â
If expansion occurs, and your concrete floor starts to crack and heave, the 'float' allows the bottom portion of the wall to push up without also pushing up on the floor above, avoiding potentially severe damage to the home.
Structural/suspended wood or concrete floors won't need to be floating as they're not built directly on grade.
