Santos Bayon Ruiz is the grand nephew of Santos Hernandez, the luthier who built Segovia's 1912 Manuel Ramirez guitar and whose flamenco guitars where used by almost all of the major players of his days.

Santos Bayon continues to work in Santos Hernandez actual workshop which he inherited from his father, Feliciano Bayon, a talented luthier in his own right. The family not only has inherited the workshop, but some of his great uncle's guitars which he has obviously studied very closely.

This Santos Hernandez model is a superb concert classical guitar and lives up to its name.

I believe that Santos Bayon is among the finest guitar makers currently working in Spain. This is truly an exceptional classical guitar. It's tone reminds one instantly of the great guitars produced by the old Madrid masters. It simply sings with a loveliness that lodges in one's heart and penetrates one's soul. The trebles are concentrated, intense, and possess a crystalline clarity.

The mid-range is likewise strong and full bodied. The basses are firm, resonant, and crisp. This is the kind of instrument that fills a concert hall with sound even when played softly.
