Welcome

I am an assistant professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University.

My research interests are at the intersection of health policy, political and civic engagement, and global politics, with a geographic emphasis on developing democracies, the United States, and the U.S.-Mexico border region. Within these interests, my research agenda focuses on four main areas: (1) the consequences of conditional health policies for individual behavior and health; (2) the causes and consequences of good governance; (3) the pathways to patient advocacy and engagement; and (4) community-based participatory research and learning.

My teaching interests include health policy, civic and political engagement, global health, global politics, public policy analysis and evaluation, research design, and quantitative analysis.
