GHS COLLEGE APPLICATION WEEK

September 28 – October 2

College Application Week is here! We have activities, college and career visitors, and prizes planned throughout the week.

DAILY COLLEGE APPLICATION DRAWINGS

Seniors who have applied to college and submitted their 2027 College Application and Acceptance Reporting Form will be entered into our daily prize drawings. The more applications you submit, the more chances you have to win!

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 - 

• See Mrs. Zelms and Dr. Johnson in the cafeteria during your lunch for games and prizes.

• Paul Mitchell will be visiting GHS.

• UTC will be available during lunch.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29

• See Mrs. Zelms and Dr. Johnson in the cafeteria during your lunch for more games and prizes.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30

• Seniors who completed their TN Promise application by the deadline can stop by for a Pelican’s Snoball.  The list is outside the counseling door.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1

• College and Career Fair

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2

• We’ll wrap up College Application Week with more drawings and prizes.

• Don’t forget to report your college applications so you can be entered to win!

World Language Club meets today right after school in room 2230 from 3:15-4:15. We will be talking about German Unity Day, eating soft pretzels, and drinking apple cider.   If you missed last week's meeting please check our remind for meeting recap notes. ALL forms and Dues need to be turned in by Friday 10/2/26 to Mrs. Clark or Mrs. Fitts.

Science Club will now be EVERY Thursday after school in Room 4209 (Dr. Hoagland). We will do what we do every Science Club... plan to take over the world! lol

RECYCLING! We have seen an increase in the rate of recycling here at GHS! Great job and continue to use the blue recycle bins around campus to recycle paper, cardboard, aluminum cans and plastic containers (Type 1 and Type 2), including drink bottles.   PLEASE DO NOT PUT TRASH OR FOOD IN THE BLUE RECYCLE BINS! Please dispose of foodstuffs in the trash or liquids down the sink prior to putting in the recycle bins! Thank you! (Your fellow students are doing the sorting.)

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: Induction will be October 14 (during 3rd Block). If you still want to be a part of NHS, just pay your club dues.   PLEASE get on the Band app for future instructions. There is a QR code on Ms. Hart's door and Mr. VanDyke's room.

Ag Students and FFA Members: Our September community service activity will be a campus cleanup on September 30th. Meet in Ms. Lacy’s Room (3123) before 3:30. We will be done by 4:30. If you are in need of community service hours Ms. Lacy will improve one service hour.

SKILLS USA:  Wed afternoon 3:15-4:15, Meetings 9/23 9/30, 10/14, 10/28,

DECA Info:

** If you are competing with DECA this year, forms and fees are due by Oct 1st to meet the TN deadline. Role Play competitors must meet this deadline to compete in the Nov 18th district competitions. Written Event competitors must have their topics approved by Mrs. Foster by Oct 1st. See Mrs. Foster in room 2110 with questions.

DECA day at Dollywood with have forms open this week in room 2110.

** Must be a paid member of DECA

** Jr/Sr can begin picking up forms on 9/22-9/23

** 9/10th graders begin picking up forms on 9/24

ALL forms and payments must be received to hold your spot.

GHS Theatre will present the fairy tale/comedy The Princess Who Had No Name during second block on Thursday, September 24 and Friday, September 25. The cost is $1.00. Teachers can sign up in the lounge. There will also be a performance on Thursday, September 24 at 6:00 pm.
