Hello! I am Mark Beuter and I look forward to coaching the Greenbrier Gators this season!
I have an extensive past in swimming, going all the way back to my time as a summer league swimmer at the age of 8. As I moved into middle school and high school, I picked up swimming on the competitive level with year-round swimming. I started at the Rowan Aquatic Club, and then later moved to WSY (which later became TYDE), competing on the Y National Team.
After college, I took the position of Aquatic Director at the Yadkin YMCA and also assumed duties as the TYDE swim coach for a few years. I was nominated as an assistant coach for the Y National Team, which was a great experience coming full circle on the team from swimmer to coach!
In 2005, I made a career change and moved to high school teaching so I could have a greater impact on children’s lives. Additionally, I became the head coach of both the men’s and women’s swim teams, as well as the head men’s track coach. Since taking over as the swim coach, we have won nine conference championships and have had numerous individuals become conference champions as well as regional and state finalists. I also coached the Greenbrier Gators in the 2019 season and really enjoyed it. We got derailed a bit last season due to COVID, but I am excited to be back to coach this team again this season!
In my personal life, I am married and the proud parent of a five-year-old daughter. I am also an officer in the US Navy Reserve and a part-time personal trainer and group exercise instructor at the Y.
I look forward to returning to the Greenbrier Gators this season as I enjoy helping kids learn and develop through technique and fundamentals. Greenbrier is a fun and friendly environment with a family vibe and I love working with the coaches, parents, and swimmers at this pool. My hope is that members of the Gator swim team will have a fun and memorable summer while learning skills they can carry on to other teams and life!
