michaela schuitema

Michaela graduated from Hudsonville High School in 2012. She swam from the age of 5 all the way through her college years at Calvin College (University). Michaela still holds some records at Hudsonville and some surrounding school districts (even here at Grandville) under the name "Rookus". She also played on Varsity all 4 years in High School for Water Polo.

She was the HEAT Head USA coach for 4 years until COVID began and shut down athletics. Until this new position at Grandville, she also had been working as a Nursing Technician at Helen Devos Children's Hospital on the Oncology/Hematology floor. Michaela enjoys doing swim lessons as well. For almost 10 summers now, she has taught kids as young as 2 how to be safe in water.

In August of 2021, she married her best friend Nate. Together, they enjoy being involved in their church (Chapel Pointe), traveling, cooking, kayaking, walking/hiking, anything aquatic related, board games, and Michigan Football (Go Blue!).
