This resource was designed to help students (taking the grade 9 academic math course) prepare for the EQAO provincial mathematics assessment, in the province of Ontario, Canada.
The MPM1D course has been divided into 5 sub-topics as listed below. Each one has a number of multiple choice questions followed by several tasks at the end of the question list. Only the Algebra and Linear Equations practice exercises is without tasks. This is since the EQAO assessments largely use this topic solely for multiple choice questions.
All 100 practice exercises have a short video explaining the solution. Most of these videos are in the 2 minute range, although some longer ones approach 4 to 5 minutes in length.
Whether you are a student preparing for the EQAO assessment or a teacher using this in your class, I'd appreciate hearing your comments on this resource. In addition, anything you can suggest to improve this prep tool, I will certainly listen to. My email is alrichards314@gmail.com.
Success in mathematics is strongly linked to good literacy skills. If a student has difficulty reading and understanding a question, then they may be trying to answer a different question. For this reason, all the explanation videos spend the first 15 to 30 seconds reading the question, often with some explanation of terms included. So, if you aren't understanding what the question is asking, watch the first part of the explanation video and then try to complete the question.
Here are the practice exercises:
