Assessment & Evaluation
Each work period and at each stage of your inquiry, you may be assessed using various rubrics, depending on the stage of Inquiry.
Rubrics are attached below.
Your teacher will call you when a conference is needed.
Some assessment will be based on observation, participation and written work.
The focus of ongoing assessment will be on the student achieving the Learning Goals.
Evaluation (the report card grade) will be based on
both prior assessments and your final product,
and be recorded on the "ACHIEVEMENT CHART: SOCIAL STUDIES" attached below.

Using the attached:
For the student:
1. Review project website and be aware of the Success Criteria and Learning Goal.
2. Read all Rubrics.
3. Work cooperatively in your group.
4. Put forth your best efforts, make best use of time, be sure to fill out a Work Plan each time you meet to work on your project..
5. Be sure you use the descriptive feedback to improve and keep on track.
6. Regularly review and reflect on the Success Criteria and Learning Goal.
For the teacher:
1. Each Inquiry work session, complete a use of time Rubric on each student (as many students as possible).
2. For each conference, provide descriptive feedback that will help the student meet the Success Criteria and Learning Goal. The Descriptive Feedback Form is used to condense feedback for the ease of student reflection on comments.
3. Conference with self-directed groups and allow revisions until the group is satisfied Success Criteria and Learning Goal have beet met.
4. Use evidence gathered from conferences and Use of Time rubrics, Information Gathering Rubric, observations and final product to complete the Social Studies Rubric as it appears in the revised Ontario Curriculum document
