Our Gourley family originated from the Templepatrick area of Co. Antrim N.Ireland.
The earliest I can go back is 1820. Later branches of the family, moved to industrial
Belfast for employment in the early 1900s. Our immediate family moved to Lincolnshire,
England in the late 1950s, again following employment prospects. The present
Generation has spread far and wide, but mostly in the British Isles.
The Rainey/Nocher (sometimes spelt Knocker) side of the family, are again from
Co. Antrim N.Ireland, they lived around the Sailortown area of Belfast, mostly
working in the shipping docks. My brother and I spent our early childhood in sailortown.
We later moved to Whiteabbey, just outside Belfast. We still occasionally go back to Ireland, mostly on holidays, to relive old memories.
