Our Church Heritage
Pastor Tim Westerfield came to the South Beach at the invitation of the District Officials and a small group of people who had come together to begin a new Pentecostal church. South Beach Christian Center began in the Grayland Grange on October 19th 1980. Twenty one people attended the first service.
Pastor David Westman was invited to become pastor in March of 1981 and he and his family served here until October 1992. Under his leadership the church grew to over a hundred people in average attendance. He led the people to purchase 10+ Acres at 1360 SR 105, The churches present location, where they established a mobile chapel to serve as their facilities. He led the people through a building program which gave us the (Youth Center) Facilities. He also established the Daycare/Preschool ministries in the church.
Pastor Myron Ness is the present Senior Pastor, coming to South Beach Christian Center in January 1993. Under his leadership the church has grown in attendance , doubled our support of Missions, Seen an expanded emphasis on the Role of Leadership within the body of Christ and Developed a clear vision and strategy for the ministry of the church. He led the people through a building program and in January of 2013 the current worship center was opened up.
The Assemblies of God was founded in 1914 in Hot Springs, Arkansas with 300 people at the founding convention. Today there are nearly 13,000 churches in the U.S. with over 3 million members and adherents. There are more than 69 million Assemblies of God members worldwide, making the Assemblies of God the world’s largest Pentecostal denomination.
