Living in Reality

Well I’m not a religious but I must confess, that lately my life’s been a big old mess

So I went to church, to try to repent my sins, and the clergy said as they looked at me

Don’t know what you’re after or what you seek, but if you’re a sinner, we ain't gonna let you come in

 Well I don’t know what’s right, and I don’t know what’s wrong

It’s so hard to tell I've been drinking so long

Been looking for God, but I don’t know what he’s saying to me

And it feels so good and it feels so bad

Don’t really know if I’m happy or sad

And here I am, living in reality

I've been searching high and searching low, going fast and going slow

Living my days full of conflict, pain and strife

Driving my life into a big brick wall, trying to stand up but I always fall

Well I've been looking for a higher purpose in life

 And I've been told that my drinking was bad, I've always thought it was the best time I've had

Tired of waking up to a brand new lousy day

So much trouble that my life is a mess, And I must tell you, and I must confess

Don’t know what to think, but here is what I have to say

 So I went to this meeting to get my fill, It was hard as heck just to try and stay still

And the coffee tasted like rancid Kerosene

Put the cotton in your mouth, take it out of your ears

Turn it over to God, let go of your fears

You’re in the right place, ‘Cause this is your new scene

So I looked to God and he sent me a sign

He said you've got to share, ‘cause it’s really not mine

And my life go better, one day at a time

And I prayed in the morning, and I prayed at night

Found a new truth and I found a new light

And I’m here to tell you – everything is working out fine.

Seemed to me it was just OK

And honestly some people started to Stink

Thought about it all the time

Really almost lost my mind

And in the end I decided - Might As Well Drink!
