Biography

Manuel Gómez Rivero was born in Gojar (Granada) in 1961. Since 1985 he has been teaching in the School of Fine Arts at the University of Granada. He has received his PhD in Fine Arts at the University of Granada in 1987, and has been a professor at the University of Granada since 1988. Hon. Gójar City Council and its corporation, unanimously agreed in plenary meeting on 12 January 2015 to grant the title of Son of the municipality of Gójar.

During 1994, 1995 and 1996 I directed the summer courses “Reencuentro con el paisaje,” where I was teacher and with the collaboration of the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation, the University of Granada, the Caja de Granada Foundation, the Fine Arts School and its Painting Department. These courses also had visiting professors including Julián Gállego, José Hernández, Carmen Laffon, Eduardo Naranjo, Miguel Rodríguez-Acosta, Joaquín Sáenz, José Sánchez-Carralero, etc.

During the years 2013 and 2014 directs the courses "Reencuentro con la Pintura", which acts as teacher and who helped the University of Granada, Faculty of Fine Arts in Granada, Hon. Granada City Council, Cultural Scope of El Corte Ingles, Banco Santander. These courses attend as guest lecturers, including Antonio López García, Eduardo Naranjo Martínez, Andrés García Ibáñez, Patrick Lenaghan (Hispanic Society, New York).
