RPG developer and game company Renegade Game Studios licensed several properties from Hasbro in 2020, creating games around franchises like G.I. Joe, Power Rangers, My Little Pony, and of course, Transformers. Not being a gamer, I only loosely paid attention to these; a couple sourcebooks and adventure modules had come out when, in late 2023, it was revealed that Jim Sorenson had been hired to help write and provide lore for several of the upcoming sourcebooks, which came as a great surprise to me; it's the first fiction-based work he's done for the franchise since the end of Beast Wars: Uprising, and I had no idea it was coming. So far, three sourcebooks have had his involvement: the Enigma of Combination sourcebook, which adds combiners and binary bonded partner characters to the main RPG system; Technorganic Secrets, which focuses on beast characters like Maximals, Predacons, Vehicons, Dinobots, and Terrorcons; and the Transformers One Sourcebook, tying in to the 2025 animated Transformers One movie. I've debated how I've wanted to handle these; Sorenson had relatively little involvement in the Enigma of Combination, only writing the first chapter, and most of Sorenson's contributions to the Transformers One Sourcebook comes towards the end. Technorganic Secrets, meanwhile, had the most contributions by him, throughout almost every chapter of the book. To keep things equal, I've decided to annotate them in their entirety, but only focusing on the books he's know to have contributed to.
