Welcome to our Tour!

20.10.2017 thru 22.10.2017

Participants:

Iris, tired and retired bicyclist

Heide,

Anne

You will recognize our new bike mate Margit (with a new e-powered bike), a lady, I am still looking for an explanation for the "little cute girl" posing)

Long term weather forecast was promising.

But nature is out of control...

Starting at misty roads South of St.Pölten heading for the sun at the Ötscherland area made our hearts sing.

1. day of tour: this was our ride day, distance only sweet 65 kilometers

By train from Vienna to St.Pölten, further by the Mariazellerbahn-train to the little town of Hofstetten.

From here on, we pedaled the Pielach-Radweg-trail until Loich.

Continued on nearly empty common country roads.

Passing cities Rabenstein, Kirchberg an der Pielach, Frankenfels, Winterbach, Puchenstuben.

Finally arrived at the 4-star Alpenhotel Gösing.

The day ended at the hotel indoor pool with wellness relax.

2. day of tour: this was our hike day, round 17 kilometers

From the Alpenhotel Gösing, hiking down round three kilometers to Erlaufboden.

There a food stop.

The weather changed to spray rain - we changed to dress up in rain cloth.

Our mood has been still promising and we continued to the Treffling water fall. Passing the "Vorderen Tormäuer". About six and a half kilometer. A very narrow valley at the river Erlauf.

Climbing up the Treffling water fall towards the Treffling house made some of us exhausted (Iris!).

Another food stop at the Treffling house. A hike of only three and a half kilometers.

But hiking up to the Puchenstuben train station hasn't been over.

Iris had the crazy idea to take the so called "Planetenweg" - a detour. Time and power consuming.

About four Kilometers but felt "never ending".

Not knowing the train departure times we entered the last train back to our hotel at Gösing.

The last road to the train station had a remarkable descending and Iris... she made a sort of "pirouette fall". Throwing her walking sticks away and landed on her nose...

Our shouting "stop the train" was heard and luckily we entered the last train towards Gösing (18:11)

3,day: riding our bicycles - round 40 kilometers

the rainy weather made us going back by train (Mariazellerbahn train) to St.Pölten.

But..., weather changed to scattered spray rain what make us reconsider to start bicycling again.

Riding the Traisental bike trail towards Traismauer.

There a food stop at the Donau-Restaurant.

Continuing at the Danube bike trail towards Tulln.

No way to reid further to Vienna.

The night has fallen on our tired group and we entered the train again.
