GLOBAL WARMING HAS LEFT THE BUILDING # %
"And God made two great lights, the greater light to rule the day..."
Genesis 1:16
Jim Hopkins in his weekly column in the New Zealand Herald on December 16, 2011 used as his headline " Don't fret, global warming's a gonner". In his column he uses the phrase "Global warming has left the building".

Jim Hopkins refers to Global Warming ( and not climate change as such which of course has "never left the building"). Many people will feel comfortable with Hopkin's comments although many others will feel exactly the opposite. The causes of climate (and any changes in the climate) are many and varied and as person with over 60 years experience in the weather/climate business I have compiled several web links to a selection of what I consider to be relevant sites, covering all sides of this complex matter.

The information given on the web pages listed below is provided by Dr John Maunder, President of the Commission for Climatology of the World Meteorological Organization from 1989 to 1997, who over the last 60 years has been involved in the "weather business" in various countries, including New Zealand, Australia, Canada, US, Ireland, Switzerland, and the UK , through activities in national weather services, universities and international organizations, and publications including four books : "The Value of the Weather" (1970), "The Uncertainty Business - Risks and Opportunties in Weather and Climate" (1986), "The Human Impact of Climate Uncertainty - Weather Information, Economic Planning, and Business Management " (1989), and the "Dictionary of Global Climate Change" (1994). The information is prepared so as to provide a "need to know" background on weather and climate matters, climate change, and "global warming" with the aim to promote a better understanding of these matters.

% "The words " Elvis has left the building" became part of the Elvis legend and were repeated at many subsequent shows. Now they're a catchphrase whose meaning, usually tinged with irony, is clear to all: the show's over, the curtain has fallen, the sun has set, that's all she wrote, the fat lady has sung, our work here is done, move along, nothing more to see, disperse, beat it, turn the page, hit the road, don't forget to tip your waitress, pack it up, turn out the lights, das ist alles, time's up, toodle-oo, exeunt omnes, class dismissed, back to work, don't let the screen door hit you where the good Lord split you, end of story, that's all there is there ain't no more, so long, hasta la vista, you don't have to go home but you can't stay here, bye--bye, get lost, ite missa est, the end, finito, Scotty, beam me up".
