SPRING HILL 450 BOD Shallow Strike! Pinnacle Reef Play, Vigo County, INDIANA
In 2011 CountryMark Refining drilled a wildcat well on the Hulman Farm near Terre Haute, Indiana that began free-flowing oil at the rate of 1000 BOD from a depth of only 1600'. Later, the well was placed on a choke and cut back to 450 BOD free-flowing. Today after 5 years, they are producing about 100 BOD from a 4-well cluster.
Total cumulative shallow production from the Hulman lease between 2011 and 2014 was 770,000 bbls for a 3 yr period. * IN Division Oil & Gas. Wells of this depth are relatively inexpensive to drill and develop. The oil is high quality, API Gravity of 39.5.
This Illinois Basin strike set off an oil play in Vigo County that ultimately created cash windfalls for the local University, a convent, and many business and resident landowners and the play continues.
KERNS-COTTOM PROSPECT. About the originating geologist: Noel Daniel headed up Marathon Oil's Illinois Basin exploration efforts until they sold out their holdings and moved offshore. He had developed this prospect as a possible undiscovered shallow reef trend along the Terre Haute reef bank years earlier. Actually, he had identified the Hulman Farm as a secondary target. However, the subject tracts, (Kerns and Cottom) remain the primary targets. We have obtained a clear title and drilling opinion from a major regional law firm, and plan to drill and develop this prospect during the third quarter of 2017.
