COACH SHAWN SOLLENBERGER
Shawn Sollenberger and his family have been members of Glen Aqua for 17 years. Coach Shawn has coached diving at Glen Aqua for fourteen seasons. He also is a coach for the Indiana International School of Diving (IISD), including a coach on the National Team for nine years, and the International Team for seven years.
Shawn grew up in the Fort Wayne Summer Dive League, and now serves as the President of the League, including running the City Championship Meet. Shawn balances a focus on fundamentals and stretching divers to learn new skills, and is very excited about the League's format that allows anyone who is able to swim to learn enough skills to compete in the Dive League, regardless of past diving experience.
Shawn will lead the evening practices, and looks forward to a great season! We hope to make this a fun-filled and productive season. However, much of what our Divers will experience is directly related to the level of parental participation. In order to give our children the best experience possible,please be prepared to help with volunteer positions that are necessary in order for our team to participate in a diving league, such as spirit week and the Awards Banquet, etc.
ASSISTANT COACH ELLIE CASTLEMAN
Hey Glenaqua! I’m coach Ellie! I have been diving for a total of 9 years, competing with the Indiana International School of Diving for seven! I have been fortunate to qualify in nationals 3 times! I joined Glenaqua in 2021, and have loved my time getting to know everyone! I’m super excited to see all of the kids this year!
ASSISTANT COACH LUKE SOLLENBERGER
Luke Sollenberger started diving in 2013 for Glenaqua and the Indiana International School of Diving. He has traveled with IISD for five years and gone to nationals twice. He is excited to coach this summer.
Glen Aqua Practice Information and Guidelines for 2024
Start Date: Dive Team – June 3rd End Date: Swim Team – July 20th
Practice Times:
Ages 10 & Under: M-F 10:00-10:45 AM
Ages 11 & Over: M-F 10:45-11:30 AM
Everyone: T-F 6:30-8:00 PM
*No one will be allowed to practice if they have not turned in the FWSSDL Waiver.
*No one is to attend practice if they have any fever, cough, or other symptoms of illness.
*All team members will enter from the far side gate as in previous years.
*Make sure to bring your caps and goggles, as teammates will not be allowed to share them. We will have a few pairs available if someone forgets.
*Everyone should bring their own water bottle. Be sure to have your swimmer’s/diver’s name on the water bottle.
*If a team member has his/her own equipment (kick boards, buoys, etc.), please bring them to practice. Glen Aqua pool equipment will be passed out by the coach to those who do not have equipment.
*If parents and any additional siblings are staying for practices, we ask they stay on the upper deck and away from the main pool and dive well.
*At least one parent from the Teams Committee will be present at each practice to help answer any questions team members or parents might have. Note, this is subject to change throughout the season.
