The best starting point for windows.
so you have a fresh install of windows what to do now?
windows 11 go to start then settings then windows updates.
let windows update all the recommended updates. wial all that is going on you can then either partition your hard drive to set up a second partition for data or if you already have a second drive for data just start moving your windows user account over to your data drive.
I like to use my downloads folder for a place for all my application downloads and creating folders for windows, iso, android and backups for my router and other systems in my house or phone.
Then I run windows 11 debloater chris titus ctt has a good one but there are many others.
install your browser of choice.
now you could check optional updates for any other drivers or goto the corrisponding websites to get the most upto date driver.
for graphics cards its best to get from the maker of your grapics card as in amd or Nvidia.
Then motherboard northbridge/ southbridge drivers downloaded from creator of your motherboard or manfactor of your computer.
then use some software to remove any lingering data you dont want taking space in your back up. ccleaner is my main choice. cleaners are now offerd in antivirus programs and other tools if you like those thats fine too i like ccleaner becuase it gets everything that i know of
unused dll, registry lines that are no longer being used by anything, old windows update files, temp files
Now is a good time to optimize ssd and defrag plator type storage.
last thing before you go installing all the other things
goto search/ control panel windows 7 backup and restore
backup your windows os partition to you data partition and or backup to external storage. my drive of choice is sandisk 1tb extreme.
now that you have it backed up this what you can return to if anything goes wrong i use to be really obsesed with if new windows updates came out id revert back to my backup install updates then reinstall all my other things.
