The third Geo-technologies Workshop is being held on March 11 - 13, 2011 at Chinese International School, Hong Kong as a follow-up to the past two successful 2004 and 2006 workshops. The workshop will be hands on, where participants will learn and use the latest Geo-technologies which are currently being used by Geography and Science teachers around the world. The workshop will be led by Mark Lowry and David Brian both experienced practitioners in the field of Geo-Technologies.
The goals of the workshop are:
To offer a Beginners/intermediate course on the use of Geo-technologies, specifically ArcGIS, building on the course offered in 2006 at CIS
Explore the use of on-line free Geo-technologies such as Google Earth and ArcGIS explorer.
Develop classroom best practices methodologies, strategies and lessons using Geo-technologies
Undertake an outdoor application of GIS, using GPS and ArcGIS and Google Earth to include Geo-tagging and using of Geo-caching to support Geography and Spatial literacy’s
To foster a regional Geo-technologies Partnership amongst teachers, software and hardware providers who are using the technology
Each participant will be awarded a ‘Geo-technologies Certificate' upon successful completion of the workshop.
