Giordano Palloni

I am currently an economist at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). I am also a non-Resident Fellow in the Poverty, Health and Nutrition Division of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). I received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland in 2015, with fields in Labor and Development Economics.

My research focuses on topics in labor, public, and development economics. In development, my ongoing projects include experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations of interventions designed to affect maternal and early childhood health, randomized assessments of microenterprise training and certification programs, and research exploring how information and resource transfers affect individual welfare and the intrahousehold decision-making process. In labor and public, my work investigates the long-term labor market impacts of access to assisted housing during childhood and examines how migration and housing markets mediate the distribution of welfare gains from housing interventions with a place-based component.

I teach Economic Development in the M.S. in Applied Economics program at the University of Maryland.
