Tim started learning the thirteen essential rudiments of percussion in third grade and played drums and percussion in symphonic band, marching band, stage musical productions, and jam bands through the 12th grade. His high school music peer group held some of the best young jazz band musicians in the country (Tim wasn't one of them), many of whom went on to professional careers in music. Despite all that Tim stopped playing drums actively after college and for the next 25 years rarely touched his kit. He eventually dusted off that kit (the same Ludwig set he got as an 11-year-old) after stumbling into a hookup with a Rockville classic rock band, The Digits. A few years later, he was asked to lend his talent to Gina's Soul Party.
