Curriculum Vitae

La soprano belgo-uruguayenne Gianna Cañete Gallo est la fille de deux chanteurs d’opéra. Elle étudie au Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles et au Conservatoire Luigi Cherubini de Florence puis, grâce à une bourse du Rotary International, à la Hochschule für Musik de Nürnberg. 

"Sa belle voix pleine, homogène et bien timbrée, servant son extraordinaire capacité d'interprétation" (El Paìs) l'amène à se produire en tant que soliste dans l'opéra, l’oratorio et la musique de chambre, en Amérique du sud, en France, en Italie, en Hollande et en Allemagne dans plusieurs festivals internationaux. 

Elle a notamment chanté à l’Opéra Royal de Wallonie, au Théâtre royal du Parc, au Kaaitheater et au Théâtre des Martyrs à Bruxelles, au Festival Offenbach d'Etretat, au Théâtre Astra à Malte et au Göggingen Parktheater, les rôles de Dragonette (Dragonette), Nicole (La Permission de dix heures), Fe-an-nich-ton (Ba-ta-clan), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Adèle (Die Fledermaus), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), Juan (Don Quichotte), Papagena et Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) et Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail). 

Lauréate des “Nouveaux talents de l’Art Lyrique” en 2016 où elle reçoit également le Prix du public, elle remporte le 1er prix au concours national d'opérette "Brussel Operettetheater" en 2019. Lors de masterclasses, elle a pu bénéficier des conseils de Lisette Oropesa, Laura Claycomb, Nadine Denize, José Van Dam, Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Jennifer Larmore et Andreas Scholl. 

Depuis plusieurs années elle est enseignante de chant classique à l’Ecole de musique de Differdange (Luxembourg), mais également un peu partout en Belgique en tant qu’intérimaire - notamment au Conservatoire Royal de Liège. 

Vous pourrez l’entendre dans le rôle de Aspasia (Mitridate) au Festival Midsummer Mozartiade à Bruxelles en juin 2024 ainsi qu’au Forum de Liège dans le rôle principal de La Veuve Joyeuse en septembre 2024. 

The Belgo-Uruguayan soprano Gianna Cañete Gallo was born to two opera singers. She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, at the "Luigi Cherubini" Conservatory in Florence and, thanks to an International Rotary grant, at the Hochschule for Musik in Nuremberg.

“Her extraordinary sensibility of interpretation allied to her beautiful, full, resonnant voice” (El País) has taken her to the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany and South America as a soloist, in opera, oratorio and chamber music, for many international festivals.

Gianna has performed at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, the Théâtre royal du Parc, the Théâtre des Martyrs, Kaaitheater in Brussels, the Offenbach Festival at Etretat, the Theatru Astra in Malta and at the Göggingen Parktheater in Germany the roles of Dragonette (Dragonette), Nicole (La Permission de dix heures), Fe-an-nich-ton (Ba-ta-clan), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Adèle (Die Fledermaus), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), Juan (Don Quichotte), Papagena and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail).

Gianna was a finalist at the competition "Les Nouveaux Talents de l'Art lyrique 2016", where she also received  the audience Prize. In 2019 she won the 1st prize at the national operetta competition "Brussel Operettetheater".  In masterclasses, she has worked with Lisette Oropesa, Laura Claycomb, José Van Dam, Nadine Denize, Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Jennifer Larmore and Andreas Scholl. 

For several years, she teaches at the Differdange's Music school (Luxembourg), but also as a surrogate all accross Belgium - among others the Royal Conservatory of Liège.

Shortly, you will have the opportunity to hear her as Aspasia (in the opera Mitridate) at the Festival Mozartiade in Brussels, in June 24 and as the main character of The Merry Widow in September 24 at the Forum of Liège.
