Free Youth Acting Class (18 and under)
Young students will learn audition and stage acting techniques through a series of fun exercises. No experience is necessary. Class will run on March 18th from 12pm to 4pm
Adult Improv Classes (16+)
Through a series of fun acting exercises and lessons actors will have a ball learning to take on a variety of personas and different situations. No experience is necessary. A performance for families at the end of the last day. (This class is a prerequisite to the Improvisation Troupe Class along with Instructor Invitation.)
Classes are limited to 12 students, so don't wait to sign up.

Helene has been involved in theater since the age of 11 when she landed a role in “Annie” at summer camp, then returned 10 years later to run the drama program on that same stage. Helene has a multitude of experience in the entertainment industry, with a BS in Broadcasting from SUNY Brockport in New York. She then worked both in New York and Boston in both radio and TV. She’s worked professionally as a director for both children and adults in Boston and Arizona for many organizations and theater, most recently for Murder and a Meal Dinner Theater in Paradise Valley, the Phoenix Center for the Arts and Ghostlight Theatre in Sun City West where she currently also sits on the Board of Directors. Helene has seen her original work produced for the stage in New York, Boston and Arizona. She currently runs the Phoenix branch of the Young Writers’ Academy which teaches creative writing and performing to kids and teens. Helene is an award winning actress, currently represented by Dani’s Agency. She has credits for not only a multitude of stage roles but also in TV, radio and film. Helene has over 15 years of teaching experience in the arts and is looking forward to working with you
Derek Davenport is an Arizona native with over 20 years of experience in the creative arts. Throughout his professional career, Derek has enjoyed being a signed Hip-Hop artist, a national poetry competition nominee, a professional film/stage actor and director. His passion for teaching started just 2 years ago when he taught his first creative writing class for the Young Writers Academy. Since then, Derek has taught numerous writing classes for YWA along with drama programs for the Phoenix Center for the Arts and assistant directed youth shows for Ghostlight Theatre. The most recent being Hansel and Gretel (July 2016) which inspired him to return to school and pursue a degree in Fine Arts and Education. He is absolutely ecstatic to be working with Ghostlight again and hopes to see you there!
