Conducting a Messianic Passover

Quick Start:

1. Start by reading the attached document "Conducting a Passover Seder.doc". This will help you understand what is involved so you can decide if you wish to conduct a Passover Seder.

2. The service involves reading the Haggadah, by a leader, a reader, and the congregation. See attached "Haggadah - GGS, shortened.docx". If the group is small you can print out copies from the attached file. If the attendance is large you may choose to use the PowerPoint presentation projected on a screen for all to see and read from. "Haggadah slides 2015.pptx"

3. The reading of the Haggadah has several "breaks" in it.

a) the telling of the Biblical Story of Passover. See attached "Story of Passover.doc"

b) the enactment of the family leaving through the "doorway". See attached "Passover Door for Seder.docx"

c) the dinner (when the children search for the afikomen, and songs may be sung).

4. The additional files are useful for conducting a Seder.

General information:

1. We have enjoyed celebrating Passover a number of times over the years. It helps us better understand God's work in preparing Israel for the arrival of the the Messiah.

2. The term seder is Hebrew for "order" or "arrangement". So a Passover Seder refers to a ritualistic dinner. This dinner/celebration, traditionally takes two to three hours to complete.

3. The Haggadah I've prepared is intended to be consistent with Jewish tradition, and to show how it points to Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah. Understand that Passover Seders and the Haggadahs may vary greatly according the the interests of those celebrating it.

4. While the service is lengthy there are various features that hold the children's interest: lighting of the candles, search for leaven, the check for Elijah, the enactment of the placing of blood around the door, the search (and reward) for the hidden afikomen, and the singing.

5. Passover is a joyous celebration; we are set free from slavery (the slavery of sin)!

6. This is something you CAN do, and enjoy. May you be blessed by it.
