The overarching goal of this summit is to encourage more effective international cooperation in capacity development on forest monitoring and to enhance methods of training and knowledge transfer that ultimately improve the effectiveness of GFOI partners’ capacity building techniques. GFOI Summit Objectives
1. Assess the impact of past and current capacity building reflected on the stage of development of countries MRV systems (MRV assessment)
2. To improve coordination related to capacity building among different partners of GFOI.
a. Identify the key gaps in capacity transfer
b. Identify how REDD Compass can play a role assisting GFOI partners coordination 2
c. To establish a mechanism through which GFOI partners and developing countries can identify gaps and communicate their planned support to respond to countries technical needs to advance their NFMS
3. Identify the critical role of regional institutions, universities or programs (e.g. SERVIR) in serving as a resource program that support implementation of NFMS
4. Identified how GFOI partners can address the issue of institutional arrangements in countries
