Foundation presents $146,583 in new funding to 35 local organizations supporting a wide variety of community programs

The GlobalFoundries / Town of Malta Foundation presented its 2016 slate of grants totaling $146,583 benefiting 35 local organizations and community projects. The 2016 grant awards were presented at a reception hosted at the David R. Meager Community Center in Malta on Tuesday, December 20. Organizations were on hand to receive checks funding the following programs:

  • Ballston Spa High School - PTSA: $3,500 for the After Prom Activity and Arts in Education

  • Ballston Spa High School Student Book Club: $1,563 to purchase books and support of book club activities

  • Best Buddies New York: $1,000 for the Saratoga County Friendship Project for the Ballston Spa School District

  • CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services: $4,500 for CAPTAIN Runaway and Homeless Emergency Youth Shelter

  • Chango Elementary School: $2,100 for 3 Buddy Benches for the playground

  • Chango Elementary School: $6,600 for World Drumming/Insturmental Music Study

  • Chango Elementary School: $1,500 for Chromebooks in the Classroom

  • Childrens Creative Movement and Dance Classes: $500 for creative movement dance equipment

  • Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region – Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund: $5,500 for the Tech Valley Robot Rumble Robotics Competition

  • Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region – Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund: $5,375 for High School and Middle School Robotics

  • Dunning Street Rural Cemetery Association. Inc.: $14,000 for Fence Replacement

  • Gordon Creek Elementary PTA: $2,000 for the Guest Author Residency

  • Hands and Paws: $500 for Welcome Bags

  • Junior Achievement of Northeastern NY, Inc.: $1,500 for Junior Achievement Learning Today … Leading Tomorrow in the Ballston Spa School System

  • Literacy New York Greater Capital Region: $2,000 for Sustaining Literacy Local Library

  • Malta Avenue Elementary Parent Teacher Association: $2,000 for Arts in Education & ESL Support

  • Malta Community Garden: $2,500 for a Grow & Stow Shed to enhance the community garden

  • Malta League of Arts: $2,000 for Arts Attitudes 2017: performance tour and arts walk

  • Malta Seniors Inc.: $4,200 for cultural/arts & special events to support Malta seniors

  • Malta Sunrise Rotary: $1,500 for benches to enhance trails in the Town of Malta

  • Rebuilding Together Saratoga: $10,000 for repairs and enhancement of qualifying Malta residents’ homes

  • Round Lake Library: $3,500 for Round Lake Universal Robots (FIRST LEGO robotics club)

  • Round Lake/Malta Youth Baseball: $7,224 towards backstop and fencing to complete new field

  • Rug Runners Robotics (FIRST Team 20): $10,000 for the Shenendehowa High School FIRST Robotics Team 20

  • St. Mary’s School FIRST LEGO League: $500 for needed updates to software and equipment

  • Saratoga Automobile Association: $5,000 to expand the Distracted Driving Initiative to Malta residents and schools

  • Saratoga Bridges: $15,821 for Flooring Replacement in the Community Home

  • Saratoga Lake Sailing Club, Inc.: $5,000 for Introduction to Sailing program for Residents of Malta

  • Shenendehowa PTA Council (Chango and District Wide): $3,500 for Odyssey of the Mind

  • Tec Smart-PV 210 Class: $2,500 for Free Charge with Free Solar Energy

  • Town of Malta Dept. of Parks, Recreation & Human Services: $3,000 for the Malta Summer Concert Series

  • Town of Malta Open Space, Agriculture & Trails Committee: $500 for Malta Outdoors! (photography contest)

  • Town of Malta Spotlighter’s Theatre: $ 1,200 for Lighting Improvements

  • Town of Malta Veterans Committee: $10,000 for the Honor Flight Network Program

  • Town of Malta Youth Commission: $4,500 for the Celebrate the Seasons Family Fun Events
