Georgia Bush is a Senior Research Economist and Financial Sector Specialist in the Financial Stability Directorate at Banco de México, the Central Bank of Mexico. Her work focuses on global banking, international capital flows, bond and foreign exchange markets, and the financial dynamics of emerging economies. She produces and presents original research for academic publication and policy design, and represents Mexico on international workstreams such as the BIS Committee on the Global Financial System, the FSB Standing Committee on Analyzing Vulnerabilities, and the Advisory Task Force on the OECD Codes of Liberalization. She is known for her innovative perspectives on emerging economies and her ability to deploy complex theoretical models to understand real world issues.
Her work has appeared in leading journals such as the Journal of International Economics, International Review of Economics and Finance, and Review of International Economics. She serves as Co-Editor of the Latin American Journal of Central Banking, and Associate Editor of the Emerging Markets Review.
Before joining Banco de México, Dr. Bush held senior, public-facing research and management roles at Citibank Global Wealth Management in New York, and at The Economist Intelligence Unit in London and Hong Kong. She has also consulted for the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.
She holds a PhD in Economics from Rutgers University, an MSc in Financial Economics from the University of London, and a BA from Harvard University.
