My research interests are in the areas of medical geography and spatiotemporal analysis. To this point the intersection of these two areas has led to work on infectious disease dynamics and dengue virus transmission in particular. I use traditional spatial analysis techniques and develop new methodologies to estimate the parameters of disease transmission. The emphasis is on gaining a better understanding of disease diffusion under varying environmental conditions and different control efforts. The goal of this work is to predict disease dynamics under changing environmental constraints and to develop disease reduction strategies that are appropriate for local circumstances.
