Archive research is done from documents dated from 1795 to modernity.
Partial research is possible for 17th and 18th century documents.
Limits and risks:
By default research is done with archive documents located in Latvia only.
There is knowledge also about documents outside Latvia.
Due fires, revolution of 1905, World wars I and II, destruction of documents by archive management, only part of documents are saved in the archives.
Research of Latgallia is limited because
till 1918 Latgallia was within district of Vitebsk with center of district in Vitebsk.
Due this not all documents about Latgallia before 1918 are saved in Riga but also in Belarus, Lithuania.
In Riga archive important documents are missing about Latgallia before 1918.
Laws of Latvia limit access to vital records information and other information about private life.
Notarised power of attorney can be required.
Customer bears all natural risks described above, negative report is possible due missing documents.
