Google Teachers Academy Sydney 2011
Having started at a new school, attending the Google Teacher Academy in Sydney (2011) sounded like a perfect match. My action plan from GTA 2011 was to bring in Google Apps into Mark Oliphant College (DECD) and this was achieved at the start of 2012, MOC now has over 1600 staff and students connected to GApps. I moved to Pedare Christian College (Independent) in 2016 and as an acting Director of eLearning implemented a trial of Google Suite. Beginning 2017 we have now GSuite as a policy across Year 6-12 and have an active student and teacher metric use of well over 90%.

I hadn't heard about the Google Teacher Academy until a couple of days before the closing date for submissions in 2013. After two very long days and nights I submitted and application and was accepted. I am passionate about learning in and out of the classroom and how engagement can be enhanced by the use of technology. I am currently the Director of Student Learning at Concordia College in Adelaide.

I am an experienced teacher and leader of Senior Chemistry, Maths and Science, my passions for education are in ensuring that all students have equitable access to technology and that this technology provides innovative solutions to teaching and learning.
I started my teaching journey at Murray Bridge High School in regional SA where I led the rollout of a sitewide Google for Education program. This program delivered an equitable program in a low SES environment where each student received a Chromebook for free. The program also delivered extensive training of staff and students in not only the use of Google Workspace tools but other digital learning tools that improved the outcomes for students in the classroom.
I then was accepted into the Google for Education Certified Innovators program at #VIA20 with over 80 other participants from around the World. It was through this opportunity that I started developing a deeper understanding of how to best educate our students for transferability of skills between subjects and made transfer-ed.com.
I am an experienced educator and leader with a passion for technology and helping students to thrive in our digital world.
Previously, I have taught senior schools Physics at Glenunga International High School, as well as being their Innovative Technologies Leader. My experience there led me to ICT Services in the Department for Education, South Australia. It is here that I led the Technology and Platform Adoption Team and helped design and deliver their Digital Strategy, aiming to bring equity and uplift across the entire system.
