Mr. Timothy Savoy is serving in his Twentieth year as the Music Director of Chamber Choir, Chorus, Concert Band, and Jazz Band and Drum Corps at Groton-Dunstable Regional High School in Groton Massachusetts USA (GDRHS). Mr. Savoy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music and Sociology Interdisciplinary Studies from Plymouth State College, a Post Baccalaureate in Music Education from Keene State College, a Masters of Education in Fine Arts Education from Fitchburg State University, a Certificate of Fine Arts Directing from Fitchburg State University, and a CAGS in Fine Arts Directing from Fitchburg State University.
As an experienced pianist and vocalist, Mr. Savoy has taught at the elementary, middle school, high school, and adult community arts levels in both public and private school settings for the past twenty-five years. He has conducted and directed three different school districts to multiple consecutive first place award winning ensembles. Over the past decades the GDRHS music program has competed in regional and national competitions held in Massachusetts, New York, Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Toronto. In total they have received over 50 first-place, best-overall, best-sectional, best-choir, best-concert band, best jazz band, best-soloist, best-accompanist, best-performers, and grand-sweep awards.
The GDRHS Chamber Choir under the direction of Mr. Timothy Savoy has performed at the 2012 Summer Olympic in London England, Easter Sunday Mass in Padua Italy in 2014, and has performed throughout the USA, England, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Spain, and at Carnegie Hall 2018 with the Grammy Award winning Eric Whitacre, and The World Premier of Ola Gjeilo’s Twilight Mass at Carnegie Hall in November of 2022. Mr. Savoy is proud to be part of the staff at Groton-Dunstable Regional High School where he looks forward to sharing his love of music for many years to come.
