Think about ancient and modern technology, the time, effort, and money it costs to ship goods long distances.
How has transportation affected trade?
Consider time, money, and the preservation of goods.
Which cultures have flourished by exporting goods?
How has trade impacted the economy and society?
How has trade with other cultures impacted your life?
Look at the things you use and own. Are they made in America, or another country?

How did the Silk Routes encourage different cultures to become dependent on each other?
Consider who and what traveled on the routes.
Which goods were the most profitable in classical times?
Silk was not the only export or import. Other products were frequently sent in large quantities across the Silk Routes.
Which goods are the most profitable today?
Is there a modern version of the Silk Routes?
How has India benefited by trade today?
How has trade in India caused change to occur in Indian cultures?
How have the workers in India embraced the outsourcing of technology?
How have African cultures benefited by trade both long ago and today?
Project Procedures
Select three cultures you are interested in studying.
Research the trade of goods and services of each culture you chose.
Examine how each culture benefited from interdependence with other cultures.
Research each culture and find evidence proving if being interdependent benefited that culture and why.
Using technology show the evidence that two or more cultures depended on each other and helped each other grow either through the exchange of ideas, goods and/or services.
