Main Research Activities

(1) Synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in aqueous solution, preparation of hybrid inclusion complexes and effects on the properties and reactivity of natural and bioactive compounds.

(2) Solvatochromism, Thermodynamics and Kinetics of model reactions (keto-enol tautomerism of bioactive compounds, cis-trans isomerization of azobenzene and derivatives) in non-conventional media. 

(3) Preparation of liposomes and unilamellar vesicles by extrusion, sonication and dehydration-rehydration; investigation on the aggregation properties of the liposomal membrane, including viscosity, polarity and stability, by fluorescence, NIR-UV-Vis spectroscopy, optical microscopy, zeta potential, dynamic light scattering. 

4) Formation of host-guest inclusion complexes based on native and derivatized cyclodextrins, determination of the binding constant and energetic parameters by spectroscopy and Isothermal Titration Calorimetry.
