Zhigang Ge

Go Badgers!

I am an assistant professor at HKUST (GZ). I received my PhD from the Department of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in August 2020. Here is my CV.

My research  focuses on  macroeconomics, public finance, and inequality (research statement).

Overview of Research: One of the key developments in macroeconomics research over the last 30 years is the explicit incorporation of micro-level heterogeneity into macroeconomic models. My research utilizes general equilibrium models with rich household heterogeneity, particularly in income and wealth, to study its implications for (optimal) macroeconomic policy. Along this line, my research also seeks to understand the causes of (rising) income and wealth inequality, which are critical for the design of optimal policies.
