US Online Gambling Law

Vegasclick.com said: "There is no U.S. federal law against gambling online. On the federal level, gambling online is perfectly legal, because of the lack of a law against it. It's possible to run afoul of state law (especially in extremely conservative states), but even there prosecution is extremely rare."

Well, in actuality, it looks like the US is in a weak online gambling prohibition.

Ah, I bet ya: General wording is to be generally understood.

You see, in 2006 US Congress enacted a law entitled "Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act" (UIGEA), allowing each state to make their own laws to determine legal and illegal online gambling. It shall have effect as far as it can have effect. It's all about the action.

Absolutely, when a state takes a crack at prohibition, then it is illegal in that state. When a state does not make an expression either way, then it is legal to gamble in that state, 'cause that's how the USA works, and this is how the new law works.

I am a business owner and believer in Jesus Christ as our Saviour and friend. He lives in some of us. Ahem: So, instead of prohibition, I believe, a more reasonable goal is to regulate the online casino industry and enforce player safety rules. The government needs to take a plunge!

When an internet casino breaks a rule, have a fling at enforcing a big fine. Age restriction guidelines would be enforced successfully when casino operators know that the penalty is $25,000. As if the good casinos would risk their reputation on something this small. Well duh.

Here is a random shot: US Congress should take a crack at passing a better law that regulates the internet gambling industry. Regulation [with legalization] is the wise choice and will lift the guilt US gamers get from making deposits behind the backs of law enforcement. Aye, can I get an amen?

Here's a speculation: A strong person should be able to make his own mind up on what to do with gambling. Goodness gracious! The best thing we can do is educate the public on how to be a strong person by acknowledging the powers that we are under and how to make sound money management decisions. Things universal are better known than things particular. Come on man.

Again: Strong people could continue to just say no to losing money through meaningless adult entertainment and legalize online gambling.

We need to make internet gambling education mandatory in high schools. This would help make the world a better place.
