Welcome
As we face in to a new season I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your family to GalleyFlash Rowing 2019. To many of you of course its welcome back, to our new rowers and their families we hope you enjoy your time with your new club.
Having being founded in 1985, we face into the new season looking forward to continuing to build on the success of the first thirty four years. As reigning Irish Coastal Rowing Champions in both Senior Men and Senior Women categories, we are one of Ireland's most successful Coastal Rowing Clubs, our ambition is to continue to build on this success.
Families have been the core of the club; we’ve seen many parents get involved with the club after their children started rowing. Similarly many of the rowers in recent years are the offspring of rowers; we even have grandchildren of some of our founder members among our ranks.
From a club with one boat and a few oars at our inception, we now have 3 coastal fours, a timber yawl as well as our new Offshore quad in regular use both in training on Kilkern Lake as well in competitive action across the whole island. We have invested in indoor training facilities in our clubhouse, so whatever the weather, rowers train at all times
We have a small core of officers who run the day to day affairs of the club; we would be delighted if more people from the families associated with the club would like to contribute to the clubs development and continuation.
If anyone has any opinions on what the club could do to improve please contact us, if there are ideas out there regarding fundraising or if anyone would like to help out at training or at regattas we would be delighted with your help. We always need additional help at club events and fundraisers.
Any contributions of time, ideas etc. would be gratefully appreciated; you are investing in your club’s future.
The club holds regular meetings which you are all welcome to attend
If would rather share your ideas etc. anonymously an ideas box has been placed in boathouse.
