ESA 2012: Wednesday Audiocast

Post date: Aug 12, 2012 3:31:06 AM

This audiocast is the best so far. (It's about 55 minutes, about 50 MB.) We talk about several scientists and their work. I leave it up to the other contributors to provide links to the labs of the scientists whose talk they described, in the comments section below. I talk about some work from Monica Turner's lab, and you can read more about her here.

My favorite part is our discussion of old-growth forests - let me know what you think.

Our roster for Thursday night:

Steven McAllistar

Rebecca Mueller

Caitlin McDonough MacKenzie

Matt Aiello-Lammens

Also, Steve's topic ("land sharing" versus "land sparing" approaches to agriculture and conservation) led to a huge discussion. I will post it in a separate entry... shortly. It takes a long time to edit all of our conversations. For example, we recorded nearly two hours of audio, and I spent about eight hours editing it and getting it posted. I have a lot more footage from Thursday, which I will put on the Internet as soon as possible.
