I have had the opportunity to work with full time faculty and adjunct faculty at UNM San Juan Center. Alexa Parker, Coila King, and Carol Fabrey were my mentors as well as colleagues as we: planned for courses; co-taught together in student teaching seminars; conducted special topic workshops together; observed students in clinical supervision; facilitated Cooperating Teachers' meetings; discussed professional student concerns in schools; and problem-solved for our center and student issues. I have been influenced by their expertise, work ethic, professionalism, passion for teaching, and sense of humor. Currently as the sole full time TEELP representative faculty at our center, there is a huge responsibility to provide on many levels, in diverse ways, for the educational and professional needs of our students entrusted in our care.
Throughout the semesters, adjunct instructors are hired to teach Children's Literature (LLSS 443), Elementary Science Methods (EDUC 353), and Learning and the Classroom (EDP 310), Reading in the Content Area (EDUC 438*), Advanced Instructional Strategies (502), and Curriculum Development K-12 (EDUC 542) . I assist and support the adjunct faculty with syllabus coaching, orientation meetings, informal conversations during the semester. As more and more of our courses are taught online, we try to preserve some F2F courses if our numbers can support it. Our students treasure F2F delivery of courses in their hybrid teacher education program.
