A. Personal statement of teaching philosophy and method
Key Points
Stories are important to learning and teaching as process, product and content and context for learning
Relaxed learning environment
Ownership of learning
Syllabus goals and objectives are set, yet the ways to them are as different and creative as the number of people in our class. This is how our course is structured and framed, allowing for you to make choices in your learning.
Authentic opportunities for learning
Developing a professional learning community, whereby teacher can also learn alongside her students
B. Supporting documents provide examples or evidence of teaching that connect to my teaching philosophy.
Course outline and objectives encourage ownership of student learning for their benefit (and not of the teacher). Creating student webpages and blogs are a way for students to actually own their learning as their intellectual property beyond the scope of our course, thereby confirming more authentic learning.
