This course allows you to assimilate the basics of energy policy and understand that the geopolitics of energy is a key to understanding international news.
Part 1:
Fundamentals of energy
Energy balances and forecast scenarios of supply and demand
Main quantitative data of the global energy economy and mainly in a European geopolitical angle
Reserves and production for each primary energy with a particular focus on oil and natural gas
Link between energy and sustainable development and climate change
The role of key institutions and relevant organizations.
Part 1 is indispensable to gather the right knowledge to be able to understand what will be present and discussed in Part 2.
Part 2:
Geopolitics of energy for each primary energy (particularly oil and natural gas)
Energy policy of EU
Energy policy of Russia and importance for the EU
Energy policy of USA and its willingness to be independent
Relations of European Union and the geopolitical implications with the Middle East, neighbouring Mediterranean countries, Russia and the countries of Central Asia.
