With passage of Proposal 24-1, the Saginaw County Local Roads Millage in August 2024, and planned solar development in Fremont Township funding has become available to perform additional maintenance on local roads in the township.
Fremont Township representatives have been working closely with the Saginaw County Road Commission to develop a multi-year plan indentifying maintenance priorities. Priorities for the upcoming three years include chip sealing of existing paved roads, adding gravel to existing gravel roads, and cleaning of roadside drainage ditches. This work will be completed by the Saginaw County Road Commission according to the tentative schedule on the map above. The codes for Funding Type indicated on the map are:
TWP/ A, M meaning township funds/county road millage funds
TWP-G meaning grant funds the township has received.
EDP meaning the solar farm developer will fund
The Township has formed a Roads Advisory Committee that meets annually with county road commission personnel to provide input on the road maintenance plan. The intention is that the advisory committee will provide input recommendations to the Township Board and Road Commission, and that the road commission will update the plan each year for the duration of the local road millage funding.
If you have any questions, please contact the Township Supervisor.
