Grace is something more than “unmerited favor.” To feed a tramp who calls on me is “unmerited favor,” but it is scarcely grace. But suppose that after robbing me I should feed this starving tramp. That would be “GRACE!” Grace then, is favor shown where there is a positive de-merit in the one receiving it. ~A.W. Pink

Cain or Abel
There are really only two religions in the world. One of Cain and the other of Abel. One of Ishmael and the other of Isaac. One of Esau and the other of Jacob. One of law and the other of promise. One of Mount Sinai and the other of Mount Calvary. One condemns, the other finds no fault. One leads to bondage, the other to freedom. One tendeth to death, the other to life. One of weakness, the other of power. One of merit, the other of mercy. One of the weakness of the letter, the other of the power of the Spirit. -Copied

Holier Than Thou or Chief of Sinners ?
The Lord judges the self-righteousness in Is. 65 for believing themselves to be “Holier than thou”. In contrast, the Apostle Paul confesses himself to be the “chief of sinners”. The truth is that all men believe themselves to be one or the other. Which one we believe ourselves to be… depends on the standard by which we judge. Those who compare themselves to other men can always find someone they are ‘holier’ than. Those, who by God’s grace have seen Christ, are brought to cry, “woe is me”. The Pharisee in Luke 18 was proud of how he measured up to ‘other men’. The Publican could only cry, ‘be merciful to me the sinner’! The Lord was very clear on which one went down to his house justified.
Now, here is the hope of this truth. How God sees men is just the opposite of how they see themselves. God says to the ‘holier than thou’ group: ‘you are a smoke in my nose’. And to sinners He says: “whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” I Jn. 3:9 All the righteous believe themselves to be unrighteous, and all the unrighteous believe themselves to be righteous. -Greg Elmquist, pastor

When you become just nothing, when you have no good feelings, no good desires, or anything you can bring to Christ – when you come to Christ, not with a broken heart, but for a broken heart, then He will receive you, then you will be the kind of man that Christ came to save. – Milton Howard

We are not saved by our faith, but by the power of the blood of Christ. It is not our believing, it is Christ's dying. I call on you to believe, but I beg you not to look to your believing as the hope of your salvation. Faith must look to Christ, not to itself. It is not our hold of Christ that saves us, but His hold of us. It is not the power of our believing on Him, but the power of His blood applied to us through the Spirit. -Milton Howard, pastor

"PRESENT TRUTH" Peter spoke of believers “Being established in the present truth.”The present truth is the same that it was in the past and the same it will be in the future. The truth of the Gospel, like it’s Author is eternal and immutable. But it is present! It is in the here and now. It is not old news nor something to be experienced at a later date. Faith is always in the present! If it looks to something in the past, it is not looking to Christ. If it looks to what it will do in the future, that is looking to something you intend to do that may never happen. Once again that is looking to the strength of the flesh. Right now, I am in the present looking to Christ only as everything in my salvation. I do not want to make a false refuge out of the past or the future. The present is always the best place to be! -Todd Nibert, pastor

Acts of outward sin follow from a denial of the inward sin nature. Unless we see and confess our sin nature for what it is we will not look to Christ alone for all of our righteousness before God but lie against the truth deceiving ourselves and instead create a righteousness full of iniquity, transgression, and sin. 1Jn 1:8,9 -copied

If 99% of salvation is by grace, then salvation is 100% by works! If any aspect of salvation is dependent upon man doing his part in order for God’s part to be fulfilled, then salvation is of man, and not of the Lord. Works and grace cannot be mixed. They are mutually exclusive. The belief that God loves all, Christ died for all, the Holy Spirit calls all, but salvation is dependent upon man’s acceptance or rejection of God’s offer of salvation is just as much salvation by works as believing you are saved by your law-keeping or baptism. It still leaves salvation ultimately dependent upon man, and leaves him a ground for boasting. But the fact of the matter is salvation is 100% grace. Everybody who is saved by grace knows that. It is only those who do not know the grace of God that will leave any wiggle room for human works.-Todd Nibert, pastor

How awful to read, "men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail" (Revelation 16:21)! How true it is that affliction makes good men better, and bad men worse! Wrath converts no man. It is grace that saves. Chastisement does not soften, but hardens. Judgments lead men to blaspheme; and the greater the plague, the more they blaspheme. What a solemn, but truthful, representation of the consequence of oft-neglected warnings! See the employment of man in the future state — in heaven, to praise; in hell, to blaspheme. -G. Rogers
In the process of this sanctifying work of the Holy Ghost, the lies and deceits of satanic religion is brought into view. The primary work of Satan, through worldly religion, is to convince men and women that they can produce a righteousness by their own obedience, dedication, and faithfulness. Satan's ministers of righteousness (self righteousness) have deceived the whole world and nothing short of the gospel of Christ can spoil his work. (Colossians 2: 15) Look to the law and look to yourself is the message of false religion. Under the inspiration of Gods Spirit, Paul tells us here that the law, which was against us and contrary to us, has been taken out of the way. (the way of salvation, the way of life, being nailed to his cross.) The only safe place to see the law is nailed to the cross. There we see it fulfilled in all its ceremonial ordinances and all its demands being fully satisfied, and all its moral demands accomplished in Christ. -Darvin Pruitt, pastor

One of the remarkable things about growth in grace is that the more you grow, the smaller you become in your own eyes. In the first epistle Paul ever wrote, He was, “The least of the apostles.” He later wrote to the Ephesians that he was, “Less than the least of all the saints.” Shortly before his death, he wrote to Timothy, “I am the chief of sinners.” -Todd Nibert, pastor
One mark of the children of God is that they love one another, and they love to associate with each other. That is why we have churches. Christ’s sheep do not like to wander alone; they love company. Some professors claim to get on best by themselves. But God’s people love fellowship. “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren.”

The Gospel of God’s grace in Christ Jesus is not a thing to be proved, but Truth to be believed. It is not submitted to our reasoning powers as a subject for critical examination. To speak of any means of grace, even the Holy Scriptures of truth, as if they were in any sense the power unto salvation, or as if they contained, whatever its original source, the grace by which we live unto God, thus leading men to look to them, instead of only, by their help, to Christ and His Spirit, is to "do despite to the Spirit of grace." ..If thou believest with all thine heart,..." Acts 8:37. What does it mean to believe with all your heart? You and I have never done anything with all of our heart, soul, or mind for a moment. If you are an honest person and you look into the deep recesses of your heart you'll conclude that you've never been sincere about anything. There's always been mixed motives in everything you've ever done. The Lord Jesus Christ is the only one who believed and loved God with all of his heart, all of his soul, and all of his mind, all of the time! So to believe with all our heart is not a matter of sincerety, but singularity. Is Christ and his shed blood the singular hope of my salvation? ...or am I trying to add to or take away from the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ? If you come to God on the grounds of His pure, free, and sovereign grace, God will meet you there and you'll be saved! If you come to God on the grounds of your works God will meet you there...and you'll be damned! Whatever is precious to you when you die, the same will be precious to you then. -Todd Nibert, Pastor

Am I growing in grace? He is a growing Christian to whom Christ is more and more precious. As our estimate of Christ rises, our estimate of ourselves necessarily becomes lower. -William Plumer

You cannot be made a sinner by the ministry of the law. You can only be made a sinner by the grace of God through the revelation of Jesus Christ in the preaching of the gospel!
If you have Christ, you have perfect doctrine.
Whatever doctrine of Christ that's out there contrary to the doctrine of Christ destroys the truth.
Whatever is eternal cannot be changed.
You can't preach Christ high enough and you can't preach man low enough!
Before you can know what it is to be found, you must first know what it is to be lost!
God doesn't just show us the way of life, He IS the way of life!
If you have a choice between Jesus Christ and something else you will always choose something else! Salvation is not a choice!
Happiness always comes as a result of believing God, never as something we pursue!
Its not enough to have Jesus Christ revealed to me. By itself I'll lose it. He must be revealed IN me!

We deny God his glory when we believe He is obligated to forgive us simply because we asked Him to.
You cannot see the old man without the new man.
It's the very thing that gives you access to God that keeps you from Him.
God in Christ was not just sinless...He knew no sin!
Just as Christ was made sin, so we were made sinners.
"Your faith in Christ will come in proportion to your distrust of self." -Greg Elmquist
Forgiveness is a dangerous thing by itself because in that case we would fall as Adam did but without hope of redemption! We also need the very righteousness of Christ!
What you believe is determined by who you believe.
The most wicked thing of all is unbelief.
Men do not hate a doctrine but the person to whom the doctrine speaks.
God will not accept anything short of perfection.
Good doctrinal debate will never lend assurance of faith. Only a good dose of the Gospel will settle the heart.
You will never struggle against sin until you become a believer and you will never take the blame for your sin until you become a believer.
If we restricted our preaching to the blood of Christ that would be a widening, not a narrowing, of our ministry.
Wrong on the Fall, wrong on it all!
Sin is what we ARE, not just what we do.
The only thing that distinguishes one person from another in holding back sinful behavior is Divine restraint.
If you are a sinner you know that there's something wrong in everything you do.
God's satisfaction can only be found in His Son...Are you satisfied with what God is satisfied with?
The only time a person comes to Jesus Christ is when that person is preached to.
If you cannot say that you ever hated God then the same is true that you do not love Him now.
Religion is all about men having faith in their faith. A true believer does not have faith in his faith but soley in the faith of Christ.
God will not allow even one sin to go unpunished. Do you have a Substitute? One punished in your place?
Sin does not stem from a behavioral problem but from a heart problem.
The old man does not go away so we are always in need of being saved from ourselves.
The only way one can justify God is to agree with Him against yourself.
As with Eve in the garden, Satan needs only one word here or there different from God's to destroy the gospel before you and me.
If you have been made a sinner, then you are a miracle of grace! -Greg Elmquist, Pastor
