I graduated in mathematics at the University of Catania, where I wrote two thesis in commutative algebra under the supervision of Marco D'Anna.
Afterwards, I completed a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Pisa. My advisor was Enrico Sbarra.
After the PhD, I had several postdoc positions at the University of Seville, University of Barcelona, University of Catania, University of Bologna, and University of Turin. Some of these positions were funded by INdAM. Later, I was a researcher (Ricercatore di tipo A) at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Genoa. Currently, I am a tenure track researcher at the Department MIFT of the University of Messina.
You can find more information about me in my CV: in English or Italian.
My research focuses on commutative algebra and related areas. For instance, some topics I like are:
Gorenstein rings and their generalizations, such as almost and nearly Gorenstein rings;
Monomial and binomial ideals, with particular attention to their combinatorial aspects;
Numerical and affine semigroups, mainly for their connection with commutative algebra, but not only;
Hilbert functions of rings and modules, both in graded and local case;
Associated graded rings of a local ring;
Local cohomology modules.
