From Kevin and Andrew:
It is with regret that that after seeking advice from South West Lakes about the weekends weather forecast, particularly the high winds that have increased as the week has gone on, the decision has been made to cancel Sunday’s Roadford Hasler Race. This is due to the lake being very exposed on all sides with no shelter so the forecasted high winds will result in worse conditions than last year. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this will cause but the safety of those participating in the event must come first, and we feel that it will not be safe for this event to run. We have emailed everyone who is entered so far but please pass this message on to anyone else you know who is planning on attending the race.
If you have already travelled to Cornwall for the weekend and fancy a paddle we would like to invite you to join us at Fowey River Canoe Club (PL23 1LN) on Sunday morning for a 9.30 start, with refreshments afterwards.
Fowey Canoe Club has been producing paddlers at a national level across all age groups for a number of years and has this year seen success within both our junior and senior divisions. We are a competitive flat-water kayaking club based in Golant, on the picturesque estuary of the River Fowey in Cornwall. Our club enters races of both the Marathon and Sprint disciplines throughout the year; both locally and nationally.
Please use the navigation tools on the left to learn more about us and competitive flat water kayaking, forthcoming races, training and open sessions, latest news and photos, recent race results and of course the all important club social events.
If you would like to get in touch, please use the "Contact Us" link on the left. We are always happy to hear from budding new kayaking hopefuls, those who fancy giving it a go and the more experienced paddler.
