As a result of this project, we have developed a new, systems-based approach to teaching students about production animal medicine. This approach includes the following instructional resources that can be used to explain to students how to think in terms of food animal production systems and to assess the benefit of instructional interventions:
2 teaching cases (one in swine production and one in goat production), including lectures, PowerPoint slides, and Stella Systems Diagram Simulation Models, that can easily be implemented in new or existing courses.
4 case-based assessment scenarios (swine, goat, food safety chemical hazard, beef cow-calf) and their associated diagnostic questions in the Pre and posttest assessments
