The people involved with the Folies were wonderful! Laurie (Canton) Collier conceived of the troupe and turned her idea into reality. She and Brian Brockhouse and I were the primary writers, although everyone contributed a line or bit of business at some point. Laurie and Brian were members of the cast from first to last, along with Jerre Bovett, Jean Meyer and Ron Suhr. Others who acted with the Folies include Georga (Duncan) Acolla, B. J. Fishman, Sue Hutchens, Cheryl (Miller) Slavik, Al Thompson, Bret Voorhees, and Dennis Wilson.
George Sprague directed some of our shows, including the melodrama. Bret helped with publicity, and B. J. handled tickets. Howie Jung played the organ for the melodrama, and Tom Carmody ran the lights. Daniel Pavlik created the program for the melodrama, and maybe some of the brochures, ads and programs for the other shows. Cyndy Larson also may have created posters for some of our performances. A Canadian student named Morris produced the radio plays.
Special thanks go to Dave and Ginny Gold, who let us perform at their bar, That Place, and to Gary Schwartz, Merly Syslo, and Dave Wilson, who sponsored the melodrama. Thanks also to Cliff and Marlene Larson, who I'm sure had a hand in our performing at the Democratic Party fundraiser at Dugan's Deli. Many of the Iowa State University Department of English faculty were very supportive, including Judy Powers and Aubrey and Linda Galyon. Finally, a big thank-you to all our fans. My apologies to anyone whose name I've forgotten or mangled.
