Would Your Tile Floor Look Better If You Adopted a Comprehensive Floor Care Plan?

A Floor Doctor customer, after we performed a strip and wax job on their VCT tile floor, exclaimed that the floor looked great! He then added, “How can I keep it looking great?”

I informed him that he needed a comprehensive floor care plan. Here is part of the proposal that I sent him:

• Buffing: We should buff the floors weekly. Buffing repairs the surface so it looks shiny and increases the life of the floor finish.

• Top Scrubbing: We need to do this two times per year. Top scrubbing consists of aggressively cleaning the floor, removing layers of damaged floor finish and putting on new coats of floor finish. If you do top scrubbing, you strip and wax the floors less frequently and save money.

• Stripping and Waxing: If we perform the top scrubbing, we can get away with stripping and waxing every other year. Stripping and waxing is the process where floor finish is completely removed down to the bare tile and 3 to 5 new coats of floor finish are applied.

The customer accepted the plan and they’re using it today.

If you want your floors to look clean and shiny, then you have to care for them regularly.
