Travel

UCLA is located in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. The closest airport is LAX. To get from LAX to Westwood, the following transportation options are available.

    • Flyaway Westwood Shuttle ($10, by credit card only) - direct bus to Westwood, departs once an hour from in front of each LAX terminal. Travel time: 25 to 45 minutes
    • Culver City Bus Line 6 or '6 Rapid' ($1). Travel time: 50 to 90 minutes.To catch this bus, take the free “C” shuttle at LAX to the City Bus Center. You can plan your Metro trip here: http://www.metro.net/
    • SuperShuttle (around $25) operates a 24-hour door-to-door van service. While they make regular rounds at LAX to pick up passengers, it is best to make a reservation online or by telephone.     • Prime Time Shuttle is similar to SuperShuttle, but they may be a few dollars cheaper. More information is on their Southern California website: http://www.primetimeshuttle.com/SoCal.htm
    • Taxi: around $45
    • Uber or Lyft: around $12-$20. It is easiest to meet at the Ride Service Pickup Signs (A-F), on the departures level (one floor up from arrivals).

Another option is Hotel Angeleno, 170 N. Church Lane. It is 3 miles from UCLA, but offers a free car service to campus. Rates start at $209.

Food

We recommend in particular: Greenhouse and Wolfgang Puck (at Terrace Food Court), Kikka (at Avenue A), the Bombshelter Bistro (at Court of Sciences Student Center), Epazote (at LuValle), Cafe Synapse, and Il Tramezzino (at the Anderson School of Management; not shown on the list).

Westwood Village (15-20 min walk south of campus) has a variety of restaurants; see for example Yelp. Our recommendations: Native Foods (Vegan), 800 Degrees (Pizza), Kazunori (Japanese), Bibigo (Korean), Cava (Mediterranean), Falafel King (Middle Eastern), Mesa (Brazilian), Tender Greens (Californian), D'Amore's (Pizza), Fundamental LA (American), Le Pain Quotidien (Belgian), Ike's Sandwiches.

Further south (30 min walk from campus) on Westwood Blvd. is Little Tehran, with restaurants such as Shamshiri Grill (Persian), Rose & Saffron (Persian Ice Cream), Sunnin (Middle Eastern), Ramayani (Indonesian) and Pomodoro (Italian).
