    • What is Flit Keyboard?

Flit Keyboard is a solution for finger typing on palm size touch screen device. Instead of having one small button for each letter, it use big buttons with Tap and Slide approach. Currently it run on devices with Android OS 1.6 or above, and available in Android Market.

    • What is the difference between Flit Keyboard and other software keyboards?

While most software keyboards help user input text in specific language or context, Flit Keyboard aims at general purpose input. The objective is to provide an easy to adopt, reasonably fast, highly accurate, and blind-typable input solution, yet without rely on context dependent auto correction.

    • What is Tap and Slide?

In this approach each button represents more than one letter. User types the target letter by tap on the related button and slide to a corresponding direction. In practice, user can finish both "tap" and "slide" actions in one motion.

First Time Install/Update

    • I cannot find the app after install, where is it?

This is not an normal app and you will not see it in app drawer. To enable it, go to "Settings->Language and Keyboard", then check "Flit Keyboard".

    • I have been warned that the program will collect my password and credit card number, is that true?

Of course not. That is a standard Android warning displayed each time you enable a software keyboard.

    • I have enabled the app in settings but it still shows the original keyboard during input, why?

You need to select it as the active input method. Long press in any input area until a popup menu appears, select "Input Method" around the bottom of the list, then choose "Flit Keyboard".

    • I have enabled the app and selected it as active input method, but nothing happen, why?

Usage

    • I have selected it as active input method, but nothing happen, why?

Sometimes the Android OS mess up itself when switching software keyboard, especially after install or update an app. Try tap on a different input area, restart the current app, or reboot your device.

    • I get a force close, what should i do?

Sometimes the Android OS mess up itself, especially after install or update an app. Please try one or more of the following: reboot your device, turn off all features from "Settings->Language and Keyboard->Flit Keyboard Settings", clear data from "Settings ->Applications->Manage Applications->Flit Keyboard", remove and re-install the app. If none of these help, the app may has compatibility issues with your device or one of your installed app, please try the Lite version if not already, and let us know your case.

    • The key labels are small, can I make it larger?

Go to "Flit Keyboard Settings" and turn on "Show hint line" option.

    • I cannot find some character, where is it?

Try toggle shift mode, or change to symbol keyboard by long press Shift key. If we really missed some characters you needed, please let us know.

    • Why doesn't it suggest predicted words?

Make sure "Flit Keyboard Settings->Use system's dictionary" option is turned on, and ensure the user dictionary is not empty by checking "Settings->Language and Keyboard->User Dictionary". Note that system of some devices don't support user defined dictionary.

    • Why doesn't it automatically change caplock status?

Make sure "Flit Keyboard Settings->Auto-capitalization" option is turned on. Note that it is up to the owner of current input area to control the caplock behavior.

    • In the shortcuts editor, I input a hotkey but the field becomes blank, why?

Currently only letters and numbers are supported, no symbol allowed.
